laid injunctions on me not to visit any part of the sea coast as Patterson he said conducted Johnston into Saldanha Bay, I was but to keep my researches to the inland parts I was a little disgusted by the refusal and consequently never again asked permission until last Year when I accompanied Dr. Russell there.  I shall therefore comply with your command as far as circumstances will allow.  But if I make it my head quarters I must lodg my growing collection at the Cape which is very considerable and curious.

I send you inclosed the Accounts of my two last years expences at the Cape, and also a Power of Attorney empowering Messrs Coutts & Artobus, Bankers to draw the Money due to me from his Majesty.

On the Solicitation of the Gentlemen contractors for the Cape Butchery, I have taken the liberty to inclose you their proposals for Supplying the Kings or Companies Ships on better terms.  They requested that I would use my interest get it laid before the Lds of the Admiralty, as it might be of some consideration also with regard to Botany Bay.

I am Sir with the Greatest respect
Yours
