Port Jackson, 26th.. Oct. 1795

Dear Sir

          I had the pleasure to receive your very friendly letter dated the 29th July 1794 by Govr Hunter, who arrived here the 7th Sepr., which gave every one in this Colony great satisfaction and eased my mind of that anxiety which was natural for any man to feel in my situation, particularly as we had been for six weeks without animal food, except a small pittance, which I had reserved for the use of the troops, and the last of that was issued when the Govr. came in.  His arrival however did not afford us much relief, having only provisions on board for their ships company, and a small quantity of Pork, which he had purchased at Rio.  But the Young William coming in so soon after, and the daily expectation of the Sovereign, together with the assistance we may
