We have now 56 Weeks dry provisions at full rations if the Id. produce of yr. last & curr. Crops - this Years produce will be upwards of 18 Months in addition 382 people draw no provisions from the Stores - Such my dear Sir is our present situation & the Id. is not 1/10th part clear or in Cultivation, I have transmitted to Govt. sufficient documents to prove that at least ¾ths of the Island can be ploughed as well as any Ground within ten Miles of London if we had with Cattle & ploughs but unfortunately we never have had any of either, As a proof of the Fertility of the Soil on this Id. many Acres
