Transcription

This Indenture made the 26th day of Septr in the Year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty eight Between His Excellency Sir George Gipps Knight Captain General and Governor in Chief of the Territory of New South Wales and its Dependencies and Vice Admiral of the same of the first Part. The Reverend Thomas Hassall of Denbigh in the said Colony Clerk one of Her Majesty's Chaplains of the said Colony of the second Part And John Campbell of Campbells wharf Sydney in the said Colony Esquire and Robert Campbell the Younger of George Street Sydney aforesaid Esquire of the third part. Whereas by certain Regulations made in consideration of the inadequacy of the Salaries of the Chaplains in New South Wales it was proposed and arranged by His late Majesty's Government that the Children of each of the Chaplains of New South Wales should be entitled to receive certain Grants of Land on their respectively arriving at the ages hereinafter mentioned that is to say the Sons of such Chaplains to one thousand nine hundred and twenty acres at the age of nineteen years And the Daughters of such Chaplains to one thousand two hundred and eighty acres at the age of eighteen Years to serve as a future provision for such Children 
And whereas subsequent to such Regulations the system of granting Lands became abolished and that arrangement was
