Sunday 5 September 1920
I dig garden & weed all morning
Dad and mum are very crook & I am more loth to leave them. I catch 2.15pm boat and catch 3.30 train. I sit alongside Whitworth that I noticed on the train coming up. Dad & mum opposite who know Stewart father & daughter. We dine at Newcastle coffee & biscuits at Armidale & Glen Innes. Very sober travellers. we get 1½ hours late and pick up over 35 minutes. See kangaroo & plenty rabbits and grass just starting after the drought.
Monday 6 September 1920
Arrive at 8.30 ! no brekker motor to [Ernraville] no brekker. We go all over tin dredges and meet scores of Roy's friends. We dine at Hotel well and go walk all around school picking up tin specimens. Go to O'Donnell's to tea and music and cards. We win easily. Roy's uncle calls for us and we have lovely drive home in car. We take snaps of mine and town
