April 12th

What a funny old place this France is.   I have always been told that April is a very uncertain month & so it is.  Any men who were wounded last night must have had an awful time for it has snowed heavily & they just arrived here absolutely stone cold.

What interesting stories they do tell & how heavily the 1st & 4th divisions have paid for their brilliant yet modest effort.   And yet they do not complain that the others did not come up.

General Gough visited the camp today, the first time our Army commander has seen us & he was jolly nice & also complimentary.  It did the C.O. a world of good & he thoroughly deserves it.

No 3 C.C.S. are working hard next door & today I saw King & Dubbes who worked with us for a while at Edgehill.
