[Newscutting from Jamacia]
House in committee on the state of the island, Mr. Rodon in the chair.
Being resumed, Mr. Rodon, from the committee, reported three resolutions, which were agreed to; viz.
1st. For paying to the order of Capt. William Bligh the sum of one thousand guineas, in consideration of the very essential benefit this country hath acquired by the importation of the bread-fruit, and other useful plants, and from the constant, tedious, and painful care exerted by him for their preservation, during a long and dangerous voyage.
2d. For paying to the order of Lieutenant Nathaniel Portlock the sum of five hundred guineas, for this important services in guiding the ship Providence through a very difficult and intricate navigation, whereby that ship was enabled to fulfil the end of her voyage, in introducing the bread-fruit to this island.
