the huts now building are for the Convicts who came out Last they will form a street of a mile in Length & 200 feet in Breadthe I do not find that any of the people indulged in this several kind of confinement have abused the liberty allowed them or if they have it has only been by robbing a Garden

the want of lime makes the building with brick very troublesome the walls must be thick & cannot be carried to a proper hight

if providence had not worked a miracle in our Favor there could have been but few of us alive when the ships came to our releif but I have established such a plan for clearing & cultivating Land on this Island as will render it unnecessary to send flour here in future in one year from the first of next January the Island will be able to share grain for exportation Provided not more than 700 people are kept here
