Extract from the Journal of Lieut King who arrivd on the 20th ult. Decr from the Convict Colony on New South Wales.

Feb. 1.
At day light embarkd at Sidney Cove for Botany Bay to visit M. de Peyrouse [Perouse] & offer him on the Part of Governer Philip any assistance he might stand in need of, at 10. O Clock arrivd on Board the Boussole [La Boussole] where we were receivd with the greatest attention & Politeness by M. de Peyrouse & the few officers he had with him, on receiving Govr.Philip's message he returned his Thanks & made to him the same offers he had receivd from him adding that as he should be in France in 15 months & had stores etc sufficient for 3 years he would be happy to Furnish the Governor with any thing he might stand in need of.

The Wind Coming from the northward & blowing Fresh I accepted M de Peyrouses offer of spending the Day with him, in the Course of our conversation he gave me the Following information.

he had touchd at or been off the Following Places Madera [Madeira] Teneriffe St Catharines had run along the Coasts of Chili [Chile] & California in which last place Coast he had lost boats officers & men in the Surf, he had been at Kampchatka [Kamchatka] where he replaced the wooden inscription left by Capt Gore to the memory of Capt Clerke (almost defaced) by one of Copper
from Kampchatka he went to Macau the Philippines Sandwich Isles
