His Majesty's Ship Porpoise

at Sea - 27th. February 1806

Sir

I enclose an Account of Water just delivered to me by the Masters of Transports and Merchant Ships under Convoy of His Majestys Ship under my Command, the Masters of the Alexander and Fortune are fearfull of proceeding to the Cape as it is not confirmed it being in our possession without touching at some other place before reaching it for refreshments, as I am directed by my Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to follow your Orders as to Course and Ports we are to touch at I think it my Duty to make this representation for your Consideration and shall request your Answer that I may prepare Instructions to the Convoy on that head, the Wind being fair makes me anxious of proceeding on with the Convoy.  Should you wish to speak to His Majestys Ship under my Command I am to request you will direct the Master of the Sinclair to make the necessary Signal for that purpose - as you are provided with the Signal Flags if you will hoist the Compass Signal in which you mean to Steer I will take the necessary Steps for that
