Northumberland House Janry. 23d. 1772.

Sir

Mr. Machin, has frequently sollicited me to recommend a Nephew of his to Mr. Banks in order to go out as a Draftsman on His next Expedition. As He is a Person of great weight in Westminster, I have not been able to refuse his Request, & as I have not the pleasure of being known to Mr. Banks, I must beg leave to make my application to him thro'  you. I am not myself at all acquainted with either the Young man or his Qualifications; but I am desired by Mr. Machin to referr you for those to Mr. Zoffanni to whom he is very well known. I am
Sir
Your humble Servt.
Percy.
