Sir
Permit me the Honr of Addressing you, Principally to palliate my Transgressive solicitation of your Attention on the Behalf of my Friend Mr J. Moses -- Sensible as I am of Your good nature & judgment pleading in my Favour, for my presuming boldness, occasioned by the warmeth of my Regard for that young man -- Yet Sr reflecting [when?] I got [Hom?], on your Polite reception your imediate well grounded Reasons of Refusals, the Inequality, of His pretentions as an Object for your purpose Supported by you with the most convinsing, yet feeling proofs together with the too Just -- Yet rather uncharitable Light -- his unsteady behaviour and Sallies of Youth. Sorry I was to find -- had Industriously been introduced -- or unfavourably come to your Knowledge, perhaps at a time when no Friend was by to stand in his; then Present behalf -- Had likewise Weakened some Claim, he might also have had to your favour, from that Spirit -- which you so compassionatly and Politely say in your Letter -- He had shewn in the Attempt of ingageing your Attention in Striking out some means of his attending You in Your Voyage -- Cover'd me with shame for my unbecoming Reitterated sollicitations to Induce you, (and from Your Representation; with what concern must I have been agitated) to [indecipherable] Incomodeing you with my unfortunate Friend --
Yet more how must my unequal, insignificant Pleading (occasion'd by the Justness of your Proof of the imposability of your compliance) reappear'd, -- to me now too Apparently wanting, of at that time all sense and Good manners -- his Recolecting this any Want of Defference
