I have already tried them so far, as to have sent them to the mountains of Sikim for the plant which produces the dye called Monjista. This is the stem of a species of Rubia quite different from that which Dr. Rosburgh in his manuscripts describes under that name, and which I believe is the Rubia condifolia of Willdenon. These men brought me some young plants, and a panicle of ripe fruit, the dried seed of which accompany this, in hopes that you will have the goodness to attempt its cultivation.
