The Stores on being landed which took till the 10th and the Buffalo being afloat on the 11th I landed with Captain Kent and the Officers of his Ship and Hoisted His Majestys Colours with the usual ceremoney under a Salute of Twenty one Guns from His Majesty's Ship. This being done we proceeded to clear ground for Cultivation.
Two days after we had an interview with a party of Natives who made their appearance about one Hundred yards from our Camp. They were said to be about eighty in Number and as far as we could judge were about eighty in Number. They permited some of our people to go up to them and received some trifling presents, when they found they could not get every thing they fancied, altho we could not prevail upon them to come into the Camp they went away without without the appearance of being bothered from
