Dr Sir

In case Capt. Waterhouse should not had time to deliver you a small box of specimens & seeds with a a letter in which I refer you to the bearer of this Captain Townson of the New South Wales Corps, he will inform you that they were sent on board & I have no doubt will be delivered safe - Capt. T. is the brother of Dr Townson who is often at your house.  It is necessary to acquaint you that he is very deaf.  Having had the Comd. of Norfolk Island in King's absence he will be able to give you every information respecting it. 

I have requested he will state to you the very unpleasant situation I am placed in with the Comd. and the expences attending it..  I am
