My Dear Sir
On my return from Court on Monday last and yesterday, so much search has been through the papers I have been allowed to bring Home, as to prevent my writing to you. The Trial now appears to be on me, & not Johnston. - Capt. Kemp & Minchin gave such evidence of my violence and injustice, as almost made the Court believe I was a severe Governor indeed - two particular Instances Minchin described with all the appearance of truth, but my fortunately having the Minutes of the proceedings of the Courts, it turned every thing against him, & proved he was the most competent false witness that ever existed, to the great abhorrence of every one present.
Blaxland is left to proceed to morrow on the greivances he received but I have no doubt in refuting all he has to say very easily. Upon th whole my Dear Sir I think few Persons in this Kingdom could bear a scrutiny of their transactions
