[Page 3]

there, I think I have in the material points as much power.  You will now my Dear Sir not be displeased to know that my Daughter is doing as well as I can expect altho a little sick, and as this is a Ship of War, as a Letter of Mark, I have directed her Husband to be with me to assist in case of coming to action, & as a right I have, as well as Captain Short to have his Whole family with him; besides the necessity of an officer with me to communicate with the Porpoise if necessary. The Apollo went down part of the [indecipherable] St. Helens, [possibly St. Helena] & I understand we sail as soon as the [indecipherable] appears from the Eastward which is expected every hour.  I despair now of hearing how you are, but in all my hours I shall pray for your speedy recovery and lasting good health.  I wrote my last letter today to my family, and now on their account beg leave to recommend them to you in case they may ever trouble you for any advice.  I am sure you know how dear they are to me, and for that reason I take this liberty, and confident you will excuse me for it.  I think this will be my farewell letter, but I feel happy in a kind of certainty you will see me again with much satisfaction.  Adieu my Dear Sir pray since my affectionate respects to Lady Banks & your sister & say I hope they will command me to send home any thing they may desire.  I shall ever remain with great regard My Dear Sir Your faithful & affectionate Friend & Servant,

Wm Bligh.
