A melancholy disappointment has just befel Mrs Blackburn & myself. We expected from Dr Pallas at Petersburg, a box of stuffed birds, & books. but by a cruel mistake when a great chest of skins destined for some furrier who I fear will meet with a worse loss.

Its tail is short like a sent [indecipherable] say that he has seen on other specimens in which it was near 3 inches long of this the hair is quite gone & maybe a section of the flesh the teeth are gone but
