Calcutta 16 Decr. 1781.

Dr. Sir

By a Danish Ship that sails immediately for Europe permit me to address you in a few lines. 

I had a most prosperous passage out being only 3W & 26 days to Anjingo & only 1 Month 23 days to the Meridian of the Cape.

From Falmouth I steered directly for the Coast of Brazil & made it after passing to the West & within 2 Miles Ferdinando Horrubo [possibly Fernando de Noronha].

I cant help thinking that Tract may be an Eligible one always, as it avoids the Calms caused I suppose by the Great Continent of Africa, which seems to me by its burning Sands to Quench the Generall Trade Winds.  I should be glad to know from Experience which Mr Dalrymple may well come at, whether the Current (the Year round) on the Coast of Brazil, sits more to the W. or South.  I suspect it sits most to ye  So.for the same reason that the Body of Water in the North
