Longleat 5th Jan.y 1772.
Sr.
I humbly beg Pardon for taking this second Liberty of troubling you; but as I sent my former Letter rather at an Uncertainty not being sure where to direct to you, I thought a Delay might be dangerous; And as Lord Weymouth proposes leaving Longleat in about a Week, I could wish for an Answer soon enough to communicate it to his Lordship before his Departure. I am very sensible that, I am much to blame in giving you so much Trouble, when I know every Moment of your Time is precious; but it ever it should be my good fortune to be near you, I hope to have it, in my Power to make some Amends; conscious that tho' I may be behind many in Abilities, I am second to none in Diligence & Gratitude; a Character which my worthy Master & many Gentlemen of Fortune in this Country will do me the honor to confirm.
I have this Day taken the Liberty to send you a Turkey & Chine for which I beg your Acceptance as a small Acknowledgment, for the Trouble I have given you, whether you have it in your Power to oblige me or not
I have the honor to be (with respects)
Sr Yr most humble Servant,
Thos Davies
