My Dear Sir,

The many & kind Civilities I received from you during my short stay in Boston, & The pleasant hours you permitted me to enjoy in your Society, with an uncommon attention to gratify my wishes in recovering a small memento of those circumstances that first brought my Ancestors into Notice, demand the most sincere Thanks I can possibly return you, & these I beg you to accept. The trouble you have had to investigate the Subject of Dr. Gordons Letter Flatters me Extremely, & his Answer to yours has afforded me as much pleasure in the perusal, from the Good Sense it contains, as from the pleasure it affords me by his kind attention, to recover the scattered remains of the monument of my Relations, he has therein, not only pointed out the Spot where some part is to be found, but Excites my Curiosity to know Who that relation of mine can be (if really related) that Lives at Lincoln.  The Name of our Family is not Extremely common & therefore I think it very probable it must be so, tho it is the first time I ever heard of such a person, except as I now recollect, she was mentioned to me by Mrs. Pacey, but to have done with troubling you with so much relative to Self, give me Leave only to remark, that until I can get
