Dear Sir

The  inclosed [enclosed] from an old Capt.n in the Army & a very worthy man I have just received, and I do intreat you will have the goodness to use your benevolent endeavores, to  procure for the unfortunate culprit  John Denny all the Mercy that the circumstances of his case may admit - your own Heart will [indecipherable] confident dictate the best means for the end.

The bearer Barry Denny is the honest servant and brother of the unhappy Prisoner, described in Capt.n Iverman's Letter to me w.ch [which] I perceive is written under a perturbation of mind.
