Having on may occasions experienc'd your very friendly attention to the Interests & Encouragement of the Southn Whale Fishery, I am induc'd to trespass on your time by inclosing you a Copy of a Letter from the Master of one of our Whalers fishing on the Coast of New Holland to Gov: King, which he has been so good as to forward me ;  it conveys very usefull information and confirms me in the opinion which I have long since taken up and lately acted on, that there is a very good Fishery on the Coast of New Holland for 9 Months in the Year and if an extension can be allow'd for Vessels to fish as far to the Northward and in the Longitude of New Guinea, I have no doubt from the Accounts we have receiv'd of the Number of Whales about that Island, but the Fishery may be carried on all the Year on the Coasts of New Holland & New Guinea.

The last Act of Parliament of the 38th. of Geo: 3d. Cap: 57 for the Encouragement of the Southn Whale Fishery allows us only to go as far to the North: and as 15 South Latitude between the Longitudes of 51 & 180 Degrees East:  this  restriction of
