Gentlemen
I have under the Authority of the Late First Lord of the Admiralty Engaged certain men of Science & their assistants to go Embark on board the Investigator for the purpose of examining the natural Productions of New Holland but as the Terms on which they are to go out have not yet been settled by the present board or any engagement Stating the Nature of the Service requird of them has yet been offerd to them it is impossible imprudent for me to give them any direction relative to their Leaving London & would be imprudent in them to Obey me if were so to do.
