Navy Office 1st May 1801.
Sir,
Mr. Nepean having by direction of the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, referred to us a Letter he had received from Captain Flinders of His Majs Sloop Investigator, proposing that Ten of the twelve long 6 Pounders may be taken out of her, and that in lieu she may be supplied with Six 12 Pr. Carronades and two more Swivels, which Guns in addition to two Eighteen Pr. Carrronades now on board, and the two remaining long Sixes, he Considers to be sufficient to repel the attack of any Indians with whom they are likely to meet.
We request you will give us your opinion, in respect to exchanging her Guns, as, We understood she was perfectly compleat [complete], and we did not expect to receive such a late application.
