 climate, so as not to bear colours without sinking in patches; which entirely disfigures the face of the drawing.  I would have sent you a few specimens, but an opportunity is not likely to offer for some time, tho'  there are vessels occasionally from London to Berbice [Guyana]; however, you may rely on this at a future period.

I have to regret the want of almost every article in my line, which I have in vain attempted to procure from different places; or, at least, what I have been able to procure, has been of inferior quality.  These disappointments have induced me to apply to your honourable and learned body for some assistance in this way, which probably may be done through so respectable a channel without any disappointment.  Two or three quires of drawing paper, of different sizes. & a box of good colours, with two cakes of Gamboge, a variety of C.H. Pencils, - half a dozen of Middletons B.L.Pencils, or any other of good quality, Indn [Indian] Rubber, pr. Compasses, Gum arabic, a quantity of Camphor &c will be necessary
