Dear Sir

My friend Mr Sandford going to Town & informing me he shall pay his respects in Soho Square.  I shall take the liberty of sending you by him a specimen of a Plant which I do not find mentioned by any of the English Florists that I lately found near Oxford in some low marshy ground near the called Cowley Bottom.  It is the Sium repens figured by Jacquin in his Flora Austriaca.  It appears to me quite distinct from all our English species of Sium, which I have cultivated for some months in Bog Earth in a similar Situation. The Plant has not yet flowered with one but the singular figure of the leaves will be sufficient to ascertain it from the imperfect Specimen enclosed.
