together with Mr Bayley at Portsmouth that they had put on Board a time Piece. As I am well aware the great motion of such small vessels it is not often where heavy Seas are to be expected - Lunar observations are difficult to be obtained with nicety & exactness.
However I am so bountifully supplied that few adventurers have had half so much - Though I hope you will pardon my presumption in risking my opinion we must only grasp every opportunity that may offer for that the purpose of obtaining the Longitude.
I have Thus farr presumed on your time & have to solicite your forgiveness.
Begging that I may be allowed the honor to communicate to you from time to time; what may be worthy of your notice - and Requesting leave to Place your Name at the head of my List should I be so fortunate as discover an Island, Bay; or Harbor; which is worthy to boast of such a Title. And Believe me Sir with such honor will be most grateful to the Heart of your obedt.
