Norwich Dec r. 11. 1798.

My dear Sir

         I am very sorry I did not receive your letter soon enough to send this packet by today's mail - however I hope it will tomorrow be in time.  I was happy to hear a few days ago from Mr. Lambert that you were quite recovered, & your friendly & entertaining letter gives me the most pleasing proof of it.  You are very good always to send the most interesting news to me, who live (as Linnaeus said) "in angulo mundi."  The specimens from Broussonet came quite safe, & are good & well preserved - if you should now be writing to my old friend may I beg you to put in my thanks?  I am very happy to hear he is well - & Masson also.  

         The news of Horneman delights me much, & I am glad to hear of conquerors shewing regard to scientific pursuits.  The
