Sir

Having some weeks since received a letter from Mr James Wiles (to whom you have been so kind a Patron) mentioning among other circumstances, that you had already been so good as to advance to his friend, Mr Matthew Flinders, Thirty Pounds, an acct of what was due to him, while on Board the Providence, offering at the same time, to pay the [Residue?], when obtained, to his further order; which he added, he had requested might now be paid to me, for his use, if not already paid by yourself , to Messrs Lee or Dickson, agreeable to a former request; I take the liberty of troubling you, to inform me, whether the remainder is still in your hands, payable to me, or whether paid to Messrs Lee or Dickson

I should not Sir have intruded upon your hours, dedicated ever to laudable pursuits, had I not yesterday received a letter from Mr. Flinders intimating "how convenient it would be to him to receive from me £27 which his friend Wiles had intended to favor him with, in addition to what he had already paid from yourself; supposing I had received it from you; if not, wishing me to advance it, and repay myself when the residue paid
