[Page 3]

a Road is now making from Emue plains formerly called Emeu Island - This is doubtless a discovery of great value to the Colony as our pasture lands were becoming overstocked with Cattle and indeed such is the great increase of Inhabitants in the Colony that it must in a few years be an object for Cultivation - A Preference is given to the Land at the Derwent for Grain, the soil and Climate seeming to be more congenial for the growth of grain than Port Jackson, but we shall excell them in fruit -

The Orang thrives commonly well with us, and will not grow at the Derwent - - - I hope Sir Joseph Banks will accept this, as the tribute of a grateful mind, and pardon its errors - Sincerely wishing Sir Joseph Lady Banks and Miss Banks are in the possession of health

I am Sir
Your ever Grateful and Obedient
Humble Servant.
