I have the pleasure, Sir, to inform you that Mr Morrison, who went out to Canton, has made a great proficiency in the Chinese language, & was about to be appointed Translator to the Factory, & to reside at Macao, where he has married the daughter of an English Surgeon.  I believe it is the office that was occupied by Sr G. Staunton, with a handsome salary.
