Dec 27th 1813.

Mr. Sansom respectfully informs Sir Joseph Banks he has inspected the three drawings that make up the next publication and finds that they more than exceed three times the work of the present plate delivered, as this is the only one that has gain'd Mr. Bauer's decided approbation, Mr. S. is anxious to make it the standard for the rest, but is unable to do it at the present estimate, as the time they would consume would render the remuneration below his general employment Mr. S. wishes for an advance of three guineas on each plate to enable him to do justice to the drawings  he begs leave to state in soliciting this, he is actuated by no improper motive, a concern for his family and a positive conviction that the plates will deserve the price, are the sole reasons why he asks it - should this request not meet with Sir Joseph Bank's approbation Mr. S. begs leave to conclude this note by returning him many thanks for his past kindness, and more particularly for his liberality in the first plate of the present work.
