After I left you I had the pleasure of seeing Cap:t Cook.  I find that Explorers of an equal zeal can't bear one another anymore, than rival Beauties.  I beg leave Sir to relinquish all my pretensions to attend you"  but tho' deprived of so agreable a voyage, you shall not go without my most ardent & pious wishes, for every pleasure that can come to a sensible mind, & every success in so arduous an undertaking if I can be Sir, of any service to you upon your return, you may at all times command me -  'till which happy period, permit me to make my compliments to Dr Solander - and say with the warmest sincerety, Multum Vale.
