Honorable Sir
I have the honor to transmit to you a list of the plants on board the Taunton Castle, Captain Studd, designd for the Cape of Good Hope St. Helena, and the Royal Botanic Garden at Kew. I hope those plants will arrive safe particularly as Captain Studd has paid every attention to give them a good situation on board;  I have directed one of my assistants to go on board to take care of the plants as far as the Cape.  I have likewise deliverd to Captn Studd a Chest containing 198 different sorts of Specimens exclusive of Lichens moss's & & & - by the next conveyance to Europe which I expect will
