Discovery Nootka Sound Octr: 16th 94

There is no Vessel yet arrived with any dispatches from St. Blas & the season being so far advanced the Spainiards themselves have given up the expectations of any further arrivals this year.  We are just unmooring so that I have but a moment to inform you by Capt. Brown of the Jackal, who is returning home by Cape Horn, that we are leaving this port, & going to the Southward to Mounterrey, where we are to call for some Deserters that have been taken up & wait their for us - I hope our reception their will be somewhat more favourable than last year as the Spanish Commandant Dr Alaba (with whom & the other Spanish Officers we have lived here on the most friendly terms) is likewise unmooring to go to the same place, & says he their expects to receive some advice from
