As this is an imposition which I never expected I should be oblige to countenance, I must now trust my cause entirely into your hands, and hope the Treasury will allow me for that part of the expence incurred in the present Mess before I joined the Discovery, which will amount, at least, to about £20 & may be included in the order for the payment of the arrears of my salary at present in the Treasury, in the same manner as the former was, without much additional trouble to Mr Nepean.  In so doing you will greatly oblige he who has the honour to be with due respect
