Partney Sep.t e/z 21st - 1808

I am requested by Cap.n Flinders, in a letter I recd, from him the other day, to inform Sir Joseph Banks that, he was when that letter was written still detained by General De Caen - without any prospect of liberation;  & that he very particularly wishes to be favored with a few lines from Sir Joseph Banks, he not having experianced  that pleasure of a long time, the last letter he rec.d , being dated in June 1805 -

He desires me to give the following address, whereby letters may reach him in safety -

1st Cover - To Mr K Calance Merchant, Isle of France

2d. Cover - To Lapis Deas - Merchant, New York

I beg leave to offer my best acknowledgments to Sir Joseph Banks for the last letter he was so obliging as to write me, & also for his opinion
