Paris, February 23rd, 1784

Dear Sir,

I lose not a post to return you my grateful acknowledgements, for the letter of the 13th instant, with which you honor me.  On receipt of it I went immediately to M. Pissot, who received your letter of last month, but which came later to hand than usual, owing perhaps to the contrary winds, and severe weather we have had these two months, which retarded the arrival of the post.  M. Pissot, always obliging and attentive, did not delay to subscribe for the four journals, which the Queen is pleased to order, and intended to have sent them, in the same manner he sends those for the King's Library, and your own commissions: a parcel of which is to be sent off next Thursday. However, as Her Majesty desires that her journals may be sent by post, I advised Pissot to keep them till I should receive a return from you to this letter.  My reason for doing so is this.  All letters and packets sent from hence to
