Sir

     I have the honor to transmit to you eight rare Kandyan plants in Cocoa-nuts, under the care of Captain Surflein of the Ship Alexander, who most willingly receives them on board ship, from which circumstances I have reason to hope that they will reach their destination alive and in good condition -

     I have also the satisfaction to send you an assortment of seeds collected during last and the present month -
