Water Supply:  Daily Average. 1 Gallon per man for Cooking & Drinking.

Horse, Bullock, or mule, 1½ gals at a time.

Each animal to have 5 mins at the trough - 4 ft. lateral Space.

Service 33' trough, holding 600 gals, will water 16 horses at a time using both sides.

To calculate average field of a stream

Service, lift & force pump, lifts & forces water a total of 60 ft. at the rate of 12 gals a minute, 2 per field Troop & 4 per field Coy.

Meholds of pumping water, - boiling - water should be boiled for about 5 minutes.

By filtration - The Slack & Brownlow Filter is carried in the field at the rate of 2 per Cavalry Ambulance, & Army filter water cart. Dirty water to be strained before filtering.
