In some of the larger camps, where there are thousands and thousands of troops, a special hut is reserved for Officers only but fitted up exactly the same as the mens' places. In London the Y.M.C.A. is an eye opener to the new comer. On looking at a London Guide where these rest houses and huts are marked up, you cannot but wonder how many there are ever, and where does all the money come from to keep them going, which is doubtless a very big expense. Near most of the big Coffee Palaces where troops generally stay in large numbers, a hut or rooms will be found some where handy for the troops to drop in and write a letter or have a rest and some light refreshments, and lounge about and read. In the big building just opposite the Australian Military Offices in Horseferry Road, is quite a sight to see, hundreds of troops having a good solid meal, mostly Australians of course, and it is here one sees how the well to do people give up their time and money to help on with the great cause. Scores and scores of elderly ladies, and girls are hard at it, each  wearing a neat little uniform, and doing all the serving out and waiting, washing up, and general work of the place. This is done in shifts, different workers coming in and out as their timetable
