spectacle, as it was it was well worth seeing & certainly inspiring despite the rain which fell at intervals. Machine guns were posted in case of enemy aircraft appearing. After lunch we marched home it raining all the time.
Thursday 30th. Aug.
Had a very quiet day as a rest after the rough day of before. In the afternoon gave some gas drill etc. At night our concert came off having been postponed several nights owing to the rain. It was the first appearance of the concert party, dressed up as Pierotts & the show was first rate being well attended by troops billeted around. Twice during the evening it rained but not sufficient to stop the performances.
