ROUTINE ORDERS

A. 183. Complimentary
Headquarters 14/6/14
On the night of 12th/l3th June a successful raid orn the enemy trenches was carried out by a party from 6th Battalion 2nd Infantry Brigade, 1st Australian Division.
The party took 6 prisoners, killed 12 Germans and
bombed others in their dugouts with unknown results.
A trench mortar found in the enemy trench was destroyed by exploding a Mills grenade in it and a machine gun mounted on a large metal stand was dragged from the enemy benches and subsequently destroyed by our mortar fire.
Our casualties were 1 officer and 1 private wounded. The Army Corps Commander wishes to congratulate all concerned in this most successful raid, and especially Captain P.D. MONCUR 6th Battalion who commanded and 2nd Lieutenants A. LAUGHLIN (wounded) J.D. ROGERS and A.J. HYDE who acted as guides. The raid reflects the greatest credit on all concerned. It was well planned and thoroughly carried out and the Army Corps Commander thanks both officers and men for a first rate bit of work.
Q. 184. Blankets.
Approval is given for the retention for the present , of one blanket per man in the 1st and 2nd Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.
