Cases have occurred when the Woodwork of Periscopes has been lost or otherwise disposed of because breaking of glass as rendered it temporarily unserviceable all ranks are informed that damaged periscopes must be returned to Eng. for repairs & that on no account is the woodwork to be disposed of.

Following is copy of News received from S.H.Q under date 16/5/15 "Gen Cmdg wishes to inform the A.C. under your Command how much he appreciates the spirit in which they are carrying out the important duty allotted to them. Sir Ian is fully aware that the operations of the containing force employed in such manner as is the Corps under your command at present are not as attractive as a more active offensive would be but he wishes your men to be informed of the extreme importance of their present role containing as it does a large force of the enemy.
