February 14, 1918
Homeward bound on board the good ship Ceramic we entered Port Said at the entrance of the Suez Canal. Our ship took on a big electric arc light at her bow and we started on the 74 mile journey of the canal in the night. During our stay the sights of the town were full of intrest and fun - the Gippos were all out to make money in a quiet way by selling moonstones at a big profit - and those who fell for it disscovered it to be cheap blue glass. We did all the principle places of intrest in rickshaws and had a most enjoyable time on the way home - Philo
