Many men became delirious & we had our work cut out, trying to render what assistance we could; the one cry was for water; hundreds could not speak for the want of water. Out of the whole of the 14 Brigade including 53, 54, 55, & 56 Btns who we were marching with, only about 400 finished the march; up till a late hour
