item, the same value in circulation as they can obtain by selling them as bullion
Notice is therefore given that from this time the Bank will receive all Dollar tokens issued by them at the rate of 5s/3d each being as near as may be the mercantile value of the silver they contain & that in future the dollar tokens issued or in any way paid by them will be rated at the same value, the Bank however reserving the power of lowering the said rate in case the price of silver shall fall, to the original rate of 5s/ each but no lower
Note by lowering the value of silver bullion in the dollar a mere token which has no relation to the coin of the realm all interference with the denominations of our present currency will be avoided, the nominal Pound Shilling & Penny will remain unaltered a dollar it is true will purchase more bread than it used to do but the price of bread will not be enhanced by the change
