13th March 1917
My Dear Brother Arch,
I recieved your letter the other day and was pleased to hear from you and home, it was just on three months since I had a letter from you but I and my mates blame that on to the postal dept. Well Arch I suppose you think I am either dead or wounded now that is not the case I am as healthy and feeling as fit as a pound of fillet steak at a 1/- per pound, as you say I am a lucky chap well I think the same, I am seeing what I never seen before and not likely to see again and I think it is making a better man out of me, you know brought up with a full stop, it has done me the world of good.
