3 sheep dead & the Cows & Bulls lost sheep thrive ill here

This colony must for some years depend on supplies from England, The Sirius will be sent to the northward for live stock to an Isle called by Peyrouse [Perouse] des Navigateurs, the Lieut. Govr. has about 4 acres in cultivation, I have 8 or 10 in wheat & Barley, the officers will raise enough to maintain their live stock all the corn we shall raise this & the next year must be saved for seed if necessity should oblige us to use it it will give but a few days support to the Colony there are many Rats the crops are uncertain they have had much thunder & lightning some trees have been set on fire & hogs & sheep killed in the camp most of the stock brought from the Cape is dead & all the governors sheep the cows have been [indecipherable] 3 vealers supposed to be killed by the natives the horses do well
The officers decline all government of the convicts & think it a hardship to act in the Criminal Court as they are not paid for it 8 have been held, if 50 farmers & their Families were sent it would do more & render the Colony independant than 1000 Convicts, 3 Convicts have been killd by the natives probably there are 1500 in Bot. Bay port Jackson & Broken bay. Cloths bed, axes & Tools as bad as possible, part of the corn from England has been destroyd by the wevil, the rest is in good Condition
a shock of an earthquake on June 22 afternoon slight lasted a few seconds attended with noise like a loud Cannon shot
